The Korea Arirang Hwallyoukmu Association has inherited the Pungnyu Island (Hankyoreh), distributing dances and gymnastics to heal the body and mind of people through the art of Mugunghwa. Up to these days, in the association, there are about 10,000 members training in Korea. Moreover, it also has branches in China, Laos, Peru, Mongolia, and the Philippines. "We continue to strive for the popularization and globalization of the Arirang Hwallyoukmu, and this MOU is part of our efforts," Chairman Park Cheon-soo stated.
(사) 대한아리랑활력무협회(회장 박천수)와 세계한인재단(총회장 박상원)은 2월 22일 대구미문화원에서 상호 협력을 위한 MOU(Memorandum of Understanding)를 체결했다. 이 협약은 두 단체 간 한류를 선양하고 문화 교류 및 발전을 촉진하기 위한 의의를 갖는다. (사) 대한아리랑활력무협회는 한겨레의 풍류도를 계승하여 활력무를 보급하고 무궁화 예술을 통해 현대인의 몸과 마음을 치유하는 체조를 보급하고 있다.
전국에 1만여 명의 회원이 수련을 하고 있다. 중국, 라오스, 페루, 몽골, 필리핀에 지부가 있다. 박천수 회장은 "아리랑활력무’의 대중화와 세계화를 위해 지속적으로 노력하고 있으며, 이번 MOU 체결은 그 노력의 일환이다"라고 말했다.
세계한인재단은 세계 곳곳에 거주하는 750만 한인을 연결하고 지원하는 비영리 단체이다. 박상원 총회장은 한인 사회의 발전과 문화 교류를 촉진하기 위해 다양한 활동을 펼치고 있다. 또한 미국 세이트미션대학( Saint Mission University)의 총장이다.
박상원 총회장은 "대구 미국문화원에서 MOU를 갖게 된 것이 뜻깊다. 아리랑활력무를 통해 더 큰 한류 문화의 확산을 소망한다"라고 말했다. 두 단체는 미국 시민을 위해서 아리랑활력무를 보급할 수 있도록 협력하기로 했다.
